Late March SPF'ers took a small field trip after they were told to write their own eulogy. On our 2.5 mile journey they read a poem by Linda Ellis called "The Dash." http://www.thedashmovie.com/linda/
When the group arrived at the cemetery they were a little surprised. Not exactly the scavenger hunt at Wal-Mart so many years ago. We discussed Jesus and his long walk to the cross, the type of burial he received (likening it to the crypts/mausoleums in our SJ cemetery), and the amazing risen assent upon that glorious day Mary Magdalen found the stone rolled away. The group shared their eulogies aloud. We all commented on how it is not what we have in life, but how we touch others that we want to be remembered for. Then they wrote again, about that one thing in life that if they could just fix or just get a handle on then everything would be okay. Faith, letting go, relinquishing control over what we cannot fix can sometimes be a feat.
